We believe in imparting a ‘Holistic Approach’ for Academics. The entire academic year is divided into two terms – Term 1 (April to September) and Term 2 (October to March). Academics are aligned to life skills that broadly cater to multiple intelligences of every learner.
Our programme for young undergraduate learners is designed as per the guidelines of NEP 2020, focuses on the learner’s demonstration of learning outcomes and attaining proficiency in particular competencies in each subject. We use Competency Based Education (CBE) methodology to empower learners and provide them with a meaningful and positive learning experience. It places the learner at the center and actively engages them in the learning process. It emphasizes real-world applications of knowledge and skills and the authenticity of the learning experience.
We nurture the development of higher order thinking skills, interdisciplinary approaches and problem-solving attitude as these are essential to the modern world and workplace. Alongside social and emotional skills development and developing globally literacy and citizenship, our approach enables learners to be competent not only in the national context but a force to reckon with internationally. Our campus caters to any Grade 12 learner from a recognized CBSE Board or an equivalent Secondary Board (ICSE, IB, IGCSE, State Board).
Streams Offered: PICT Model School offers all three streams viz. Humanities, Commerce, and Science. To cater to the dynamic young learners gearing up to take the responsibility of shaping the 21st century, we offer a wide combination of academic subjects like English, Accountancy, Applied Mathematics, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Entrepreneurship, History, Mathematics, Physics, Physical Education, Psychology, Political Science, Commercial Arts and skill based subjects like Financial Market Management.
Academic support through individualised learning and assessment plans apart from reinforcing concepts through visible active learning strategies (which include group discussions, peer tutoring, yhink-pair–share, case study, research and checklist/surveys) form the wind under the young wings of the learners rearing to take off on their career flight in the direction of their choice.
Academic support also comes through a well-stocked state-of-the-art library with access to reference books, journals, and magazines that give learners a peek into University life as they graduate out from PICT. Cambridge Assessment English are our education partners and learners are trained to take up assessments in English language as per the internationally benchmarked CEFR standards.
Regular sports activities which include practicing yoga and meditation and a nutritious balanced meal catering to the dietary needs of learners make a day in the life of a learner at PICT healthy, holistic and balanced. The emotional and mental well-being of learners is a priority and regular interactive sessions with Wellness Team are incorporated.
Champions Academy is a premier institute known for producing consistently excellent results in various competitive exams and providing unparalleled teaching. Our Society has made provisions for Champions Academy to run the courses at PICT Model School where learners of Grades 11 and 12 are provided with the facility of enrichment courses NEET, CLAT, CUET, CA, and JEE within the secured environment of the school campus.
As our learners move from Middle School (Grades 6 to 8) to Secondary School (Grades 9 & 10),to Senior Secondary School (Grades 11 & 12), there is a shift in the gears. The focus shifts to cementing the concepts and refining the basics learnt in Middle School. Our classrooms continue to engage the young minds through active learning strategies which fuel their appetite for mastery of learning outcomes. Learners are taken through the rigours of a diverse set of academic assessments which include surveys, investigative projects, art integrated learning apart from a series of higher-order objective (MCQ) tests and subjective worksheets. Enrichment Sessions and Mock Test series gear up the learners to attempt standardized pan India assessments.
Our learners are not only well equipped with the reflective self-study tools, but also appreciate the effectiveness of regular self-study through metacognitive strategies. Educators at PICT give the learners an opportunity to engage with content in a structured manner which is well aligned with the curricular learning objectives, giving them the confidence to take academic challenges.
Our co-scholastic sessions which include yoga and physical education, performing and visual arts continue to balance and energise the teenagers. Interactive Wellness sessions cater to the emotional and mental wellbeing of our learners.
A strong and robust parent school communication through two-way monitoring, reporting, and supporting is the Active Helpline for learners at PICT.
Educational Initiatives [Ei], an EdTech company that leverages cutting-edge research and technology-based solutions to revolutionize how children engaged in the K-12 education space learn. EI has taken a huge stride towards ensuring that “Children everywhere are learning with understanding”. They have partnered with CBSE in bringing in exam reforms and designing the essential concepts to leverage competency-based education. Our collaboration with Ei for Grades 8 to 10 is indeed a huge stride towards achieving academic excellence.
Our classrooms are active learning hubs, wherein learners are actively engaged in exploring concepts through pair/ group activities. Educators facilitate this exploratory learning by integrating ACTIVE LEARNING strategies like Prediction, Observations, Group discussions, Peer tutoring, Think-Pair–Share, Case study, Research and Checklist/Surveys where learners make their headway to the goals followed by a robust Formative assessment of the concepts. 'Learning by Doing' is the Mantra at PICT Model School. This is made possible by following the 5As in all our learning sessions across subjects and across grades. Every classroom session opens with the learning objective/focus i.e. the Aim, immediately followed by an Activity/Action relating to the concept being taught. The educator does not demonstrate the activity rather learners do it themselves with the resources given to them. This hands-on discovery of the concept leads the class to the Analysis session which is facilitated by the educator. Open-ended questions and directed questions make the Analysis session very interactive, focused and precise. The class then moves on to understanding where they can Apply the concepts they have just explored. The last stage of the session is the Assessment, which is invariably an assessment for learning. Through this 5A approach, we ensure that the Conceptual understanding, Applied Thinking and Reading and Comprehension skills of our learners are strong. We work on the fundamental skill development and enhance these skills through out the year. We end the day’s learning with a Metacognition session.
Our educators facilitate the upward learning curve at PICT. On a journey that stems through intense passion, all our educators work towards their continuous professional development and are well equipped with contemporary teaching learning practices to provide an inclusive and conducive learning atmosphere.
Metacognition is self-awareness. It is our ability to know what we know, and what we do not know. It is a system that helps to understand, control and take charge of our own learning. It involves the awareness of how an objective is learnt and which effective strategies should be followed to support the thinking process.
Learners reflect on their day’s learning. In the initial phase, they are taken through different techniques and strategies that aid self-reflection and self-study skills; be it the use of colours, note-taking skills, dictionary skills, concept mapping or mind mapping. Analysing the day’s learning gears them up for the next day’s learning. The learners emphasise on the objectives to be achieved rather than the content. They are channelised to master the skills to achieve the objectives.
Individualised learning and assessment plans cater to the needs of different learners in the classroom. We strongly believe in Inclusive Education and the Right to Education. Our varied classrooms ensure that we sensitise our learners to the realities of life and gear them in a real life scenario and not for a life scenario.
Although, we are aligned with the CBSE educational board in India, we have a series of Formative assessments which are very supportive in nature with individual positive feedback to the learners. Apart from the statutory pen paper tests, various subject enrichment activities which focus on language skills, presentation skills, research and survey skills are conducted which again focus on skill development and enhancement.
Learners have easy access to Class Library and the School Library. Library activities like picking and choosing a book for weekend reading, summarizing the books read by them or discussing the book read by them are aimed at developing the love for reading and developing language skills. They also begin to hone their library skills by taking responsibilities in issuing and monitoring the return of books to the library.
Our Work Education sessions ensure that lerners develop green thumbs by nurturing and tending to the kitchen garden at school, understand the importance of managing our natural resources effectively and explore the alternatives to the fast depleting natural resources. These sessions aim at making them responsible citizens.
Vocational Education sessions give learners an exposure to different avenues that may wish to explore while choosing a career.
Learners showcase their skills and talents through our Happy Hour events. Interhouse competitions are a norm at our school since the focus is again on building the team spirit and peer interactions. We thus gear up our learners with all the essential life skills.
Our teaching learning sessions are well interspersed with brainy and brawny activities. Performing arts, visual arts, sports and yoga are all an essential part of our curriculum. Learners go through the theory and the practical aspects for these subjects as well, followed by an assessment for learning.
Through these practices, we are gearing up our learners to become lifelong independent learners with a love for seeking, sharing and applying knowledge in the true sense. We are looking at skill ready, employable young citizens who will walk their way through life with confidence. We are building young entrepreneurs in our learning hubs, we are opening up minds.
We are happy to be associated with Cambridge Assessment English, XSEED, Furtados School of Music and Brian’s School of Performing Arts as our education partners in this journey. Through our education partners, we give our learners a global exposure to the entire teaching learning process.
PICT Model School has been invested with the status of a Cambridge English School. Although CBSE remains our core curriculum, yet, the English curriculum will be tuned as per the international CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) standards.
